Shotaro Kimoto's paper accepted in the Journal of the Science of Design

A paper first-authored by Shotaro Kimoto, who graduated in FY2025, has been accepted in the Journal of the Science of Design, the English-language journal of the Japanese Society for the Science of Design. It is scheduled to appear in the November 2026 issue.

The study evaluated how showing a preview of the order on a self-ordering terminal affects users' cognitive workload, based on brain activity measured with NIRS, task time, and accuracy.

Top: the experimental setup. Bottom: graphical abstract. Ordering was faster without the preview and accuracy did not differ significantly, while Fp1 hemodynamic change rose during the task when orders were handled as text only.
